My mother Lunia liked the name Nelly and suggested it earlier for our cocker spaniels and Nel if we got a son.

I found that the name Nelly \n(el)-ly\is pronounced NEL-ee and is ofEnglish origin. It is a short form of Helen(a), Eleanor ( Greek) " light".

Nelly has 9 variant forms: Nel, Nelida, Nell , Nella , Nellene , Nellie , Nellwen, Nellwin and Nellwyn .

Now I got 3 girls Natasha, Nanna and Nelly...
